What is the Halo laser?

The Sciton Halo Laser combines two lasers to provide a synergistic treatment for the skin. It is the first such laser of its kind, offering a hybrid fractional laser. The treatment involves a combination of two lasers – a fractional erbium ablative laser and a non-ablative laser for skin rejuvenation at a deep level.

The Halo combines different wavelengths to eliminate skin concerns including:

Sunspots or sun damage

Who is an ideal candidate for Halo?

Adults who are in overall good health and need to address skin concerns including spots, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, visible signs of aging, uneven skin tone, and all with minimal downtime, are good candidates. Ideally those who are not a good candidate for Halo Laser in La Jolla are people who are chronically ill or have an active skin infection. Patients who have received retinoid or isotretinoin treatment recently also may not be suitable candidates. How does Halo work?

In the past, the two different wavelengths were delivered separately and it would require six to eight sessions to achieve desired results. Halo by Sciton is the new generation of lasers that provides great results in fewer sessions.

Halo combines the two wavelengths where the 1470 nm wavelength targets the dermis to rectify deep damage caused by the sun or pigmentation while tightening the collagen in the skin. The 2940 nm wavelength targets epidermis or the top layer of the skin to deliver zero to 100 microns. This latter wavelength addresses textural correction of the outer layer along with a reduction in size of pores, and smoothing the skin surface.

The flexibility offered by Halo Laser in La Jolla makes it possible to fine-tune each wavelength, the depth that can be reached and the kind of ablation delivered. One hour before administering the laser, a topical cream is applied to help minimize sensations of laser application. Using motion tracking technology, the face is measured to make sure even treatment is given. The handpiece of Halo is then moved over each section of the skin sequentially in a crisscross manner. The system alerts when the required treatment is complete.

Recovery after Halo laser treatment

Mild swelling and redness are common after the Halo treatment. You may also experience some skin tenderness for some days. Because of the deep-rooted ablation and rejuvenation, the skin will undergo peeling and take on a bronzed appearance. This usually starts one day after the procedure and lasts for four to five days. After this, you can see your new skin emerging and improvements that continue over time.

It is possible to see significant improvement in the first two weeks following the Halo Laser in La Jolla. The pigmentation improves first followed by the deeper regeneration at the dermal level that continues for some months.
