Photo Rejuvenation

Are wrinkles, black spots, and crow’s feet something you’re worried about? Well, now you can say goodbye to them, thanks to the photo rejuvenation treatment.

More commonly known as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy, this procedure is designed to use lasers and intense pulsed light to rid the body of blemishes and marks and tighten loose skin. Everything from brown spots to broken skin capillaries can be treated through the photo rejuvenation procedure. Not only will this treatment give a more glowing, healthier appearance to the skin, it will also reduce the prevalence of minor skin conditions.

This procedure is also designed to reduce the appearance of scars, sun damage, and stretch marks. If you need laser skin resurfacing treatment, contact us at our La Jolla Dermatology and Laser Surgery Center.

Broad Band Light

Environmental factors, sun, and age can reduce the vitality of your facial skin and make you look older than you are. Not only are blemishes and pigmentation a worry, but the elasticity of your skin also takes a toll due to wear and tear.

The Broad Band Light Laser is a great treatment to refresh and clean your skin from weathering. The BBL device is the most powerful IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) ever made, setting a new standard for treatment of sun damage, pigmentation, and broken blood vessels. Here, bursts of high-intensity laser beams are directed at the skin. The light selectively causes age spots and blemishes to come to the surface of the skin, and gently flake off over a period of a few days. There is very little downtime, and you can wear make up the next day. BBL treatments also help with redness, pores, hair removal, and stimulate collagen.

This laser is used as part of a preventative regimen to keep the skin looking cleaner and more youthful as “Prejuvenation.”

Laser Acne Treatment

Studies show that approximately 55% of the world’s adult population has some form of adult acne, ranging from mild to severe. Age, pollution, and hormonal imbalances in the body are some causes of adult acne.

Acne tends to leave scars which last a lifetime, ruining the beauty of your face. Laser skin resurfacing can be used to treat acne scars. High-intensity laser light is directed at the areas of the skin requiring treatment. This laser light breaks down the damaged skin tissues and allows younger and healthier skin to grow in its place. This procedure can also be used to reduce the inflammation, the scars, and the hyperpigmentation left behind by adult acne.

At the La Jolla Dermatology and Laser Surgery Center, Dr. Azadeh Shirazi offers laser acne treatment that is designed to reduce the number of acne-related scars on your face.

Photodynamic Therapy

Cancer can be challenging to treat. But, with photodynamic treatment, you have a non-invasive treatment procedure at your disposal. The Photodynamic Therapy is a cutting-edge treatment that uses photosensitizing agents, such as aminolevulinic acid along with high-intensity light to destroy cancer-causing cells in the patient’s skin. The cancerous skin cell lesions will pick up and absorb the photosensitizing drug over time.

First, the skin is prepped prior to the treatment, then the photosensitizing solution will be applied directly on to the skin. Next, the high-intensity light is focused on the area of the skin which requires treatment. This procedure can also be used to treat the blood vessels that feed the tumors.

Recently, the PDT treatment was found to provide lasting benefits for people who need laser skin resurfacing. Today, PDT treatment can be used to address sun damage as well as acne. The drug is also absorbed by overactive oil glands and the acne bacteria, Propionibacterium acnes. The application of light activates the drug that’s been absorbed by the overactive oil glands and bacteria, therefore reducing them in number and clearing the skin of acne.

Laser Mole Removal

Moles are clusters of cells called melanocytes, found on various parts of the body, including our face, torso, and limbs. Usually, most moles are harmless and form over time until the age of 40. But sometimes, moles may be irregularly shaped or differently colored and may indicate the presence of a cancerous growth that needs to be immediately removed and tested.

Here, high-intensity laser light is used to target the moles that need to be treated.
Benign moles, however, can be removed nicely, using a laser beam, as long as the doctor has evaluated the mole and diagnosed it as benign. Moles that are suspicious should not be removed by laser and need to evaluated for melanoma. The laser mole removal treatment is ideal for raised unwanted benign appearing moles. The erbium laser is used to treat raised moles, whereas the Alex laser is used to treat flat brown moles. Many moles have a deep root in the skin and can regrow back despite being removed with the laser beam. Therefore, the procedure may take place over multiple sessions for complete removal.

It is very important to first have your moles evaluated by a board-certified dermatologist trained in melanoma and mole evaluation prior to removal. At our La Jolla Dermatology and Laser Surgery Center, we specialize in the laser mole removal procedure. Contact us for more information or to schedule a consultation.

Rosacea & Redness Laser Treatment

Have you noticed red, inflamed patches on your face? Has there been a sudden outbreak of pimples and pustules? If so, chances are you are suffering from Rosacea. This is a non-contagious skin condition that causes the facial skin to become red and inflamed. Over time the skin and glands can thicken and become raised and bumpy, particularly on the nose, chin, and glabella (the smooth part of the forehead above and between the eyebrows).

Rosacea causes a persistent redness in the central part of the face. Small blood vessels also form on the skin surface causing flushing and blushing with certain triggers such as UV rays from the sun, alcohol, and spicy foods. Rosacea is a chronic skin condition where early detection and treatment is important in preventing the progression of the disease. Certain topical agents along with a laser regimen can delay the progression and reverse many of the signs. At La Jolla Dermatology and Laser Surgery Center, we use BBL and V-beam laser treatments to treat the skin and clear the Rosacea.

Laser lights of varying wavelengths are focused on the affected areas of the skin, where they are converted into heat energy by the body. This heat reduces the dilation of your blood vessels, reducing the flushing, redness, and inflammation. It’s important to seek care with a dermatologist in order to control the disease and keep your skin clear. Contact us for more information.

Nano Laser Peel

Is there an increase in the number of fine lines on your face? If chemical peels aren’t giving you the desired results, then it’s time to try something new. The Nano Laser Peel is designed to renew your skin, erasing your lines and wrinkles. Chemical peels and microdermabrasion often don’t penetrate enough to see long lasting results. The Nano Laser peel uses the latest precision technology to reach just the right depth to create beautiful, smooth, radiant skin.

In this treatment, laser light is used to remove the top-most layer of the skin, all the while stimulating the proteins in your skin cells to produce healthier, younger skin. The difference between chemical peels and the Nano Laser Peel lies in its customization capabilities. Downtime in a chemical peel is dependent on exposure time and consistency of chemical formulation. A Nano Laser Peel can be tuned independently for depth and coagulation to achieve the results and downtime desired.

Micro Laser Peel

Irregular skin texture and wrinkles can be a cause for concern for many. At La Jolla Dermatology and Laser Surgery Center, we offer the Micro Laser Peel treatment for patients who wish to undergo a laser treatment for smoother skin that provides long-lasting results.

Here, we use concentrated, high-intensity laser light to penetrate deep into the skin and give you the dramatic results you seek. This treatment is designed to target fine lines, crow’s feet, pigmentation, sun damage and wrinkles at their deepest level, ensuring that we address the problem at its root.

The laser light breaks down the damaged cells deep within the layers of the skin and stimulates the growth of healthy, young, and fresh skin. Within 3-4 days, the skin cells renew, improving your skin tone, texture, and pigmentation.

Profractional Laser Treatment

The effects of sun damage and age can be visibly seen on our skin in the form of wrinkles, pigmentation, and spots. The Profractional Laser Treatment is a great way to improve the health and appearance of the skin.

The treatment uses state-of-the-art profractional lasers to target specific pinpoint areas of the skin. The highly-focused laser beams will work on small portions of the skin, providing deep treatment. The laser tightens sagging skin, while filling-in and contouring the hollow areas of the face.

This treatment can work wonders for everything from acne scars to crow’s feet. You can also choose this treatment if you suffer from skin laxity, poor skin tone, and poor skin texture. Please contact us for more information or to schedule a consultation.

Laser Resurfacing

Liver spots, acne scars, and fine lines can ruin the appearance of our skin. Laser skin resurfacing is a great way to reduce the unwanted blemishes on your face.

In this treatment, highly-concentrated pulsating laser beams are focused on the specific areas of your skin that require treatment. These laser beams break down the damaged cells and tissues in your face and stimulate the growth of newer, younger and healthier skin cells.

There are two types of laser skin resurfacing treatments available – CO2 and Erbium. The fractional CO2 treatment uses short pulsed light to treat a variety of skin conditions like wrinkles, warts and enlarged glands. The Erbium laser resurfacing is used to provide a deeper treatment to get rid of stubborn, static lines across the body.
