Our chin and jawline are two areas of the face where fat accumulates despite having a healthy diet and exercise regimen. This can lead to a double chin or an ill defined jawline structure. This often results in an imbalance in your facial structure.

Some people may develop a double chin as a result of aging and genetics. This can easily be corrected by a simple non-invasive technique using a product called Kybella. Kybella is an FDA approved injection that melts the fat and tightens the skin in small areas. Multiple treatments over 2-3 months may be needed. Other options include removal of the fat under vacuum pressure with liposuction.

Dr. Shirazi also specializes in using a special filler material called calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse®) found in your bones and teeth. This white bone derived filler can be used to restore your facial structures that may be lost with age. Radiesse® can also be used to sculpt the face to give you the desired features you have always wanted. Dr. Shirazi often times uses this particular filler to enhance the jawline and create a more balanced and prominent chin in those that require enhancement of these features for facial balancing.

In addition to our specially formulated medical therapies for hair growth in men, we also offer the latest technology to stimulate your scalp hair. Platelet Rich Plasma has been scientifically shown to contain platelets with various growth factors such as platelet derived growth factor (PDGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), transforming growth factor (TGF) and other bioactive proteins. These proteins and growth factors have played an important role in wound healing as well as hair nourishment and growth in men and women with hair loss.

The PRP procedure

Dr. Shirazi administers the PRP procedure in 6 week intervals over the course of several months along with a customized medical hair growth regimen. Bi-annual treatments are then recommended for maintenance of hair growth. The treatments require a simple blood draw at our La Jolla center followed by separation of the plasma from the blood. The platelets containing the growth factors are extracted and prepared in our accredited laboratory for scalp injections delivering nutrients to the root of the hair follicles. Dr. Shirazi is one of few injectors that uses a multi injector technique to minimize discomfort. This unique technique allows one injection with multiple small needles that feels like just one needle. Therefore, it allows the delivery of the PRP less uncomfortable and more efficient.
